AMORIS LAETITIA – The Joy of Love and Family

The Church is celebrating the Year “Amoris Laetitia Family” an initiative of Pope Francis, which aims to reach and be implemented in every parish, diocese and family.  The family (as the Domestic Church) deserves a year of celebrations, so that it can be placed at the center of commitment and care from every pastoral and ecclesial reality.

Goals of this Special Year of the Family are: share the content of the Apostolic Exhortation; proclaim that the Sacrament of Marriage is a gift; enable families to become active agents of the family apostolate; make young people aware of the importance of formation in the truth of love and in the gift of self; and broaden the vision and scope of the family apostolate.

Each month, we will provide a Meditation from Pope Francis’ Amoris Laetitia to help our families grow and celebrate during this extraordinary year.

This month we reflect on Hospitality:

Scripture speaks frequently about the importance of a family’s hospitality because of its life-giving love that nourishes weary souls and heals broken hearts.

Led by the spirit, the family circle is not only open to life by generating within itself, but also by going forth and spreading life by caring for others and seeking their happiness. This openness finds particular expression in hospitality, which the word of God eloquently encourages: “Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unaware” (Heb 13:2). When a family is welcoming and reaches out to others, especially the poor and the neglected, it is “a symbol, witness and participant in the Church’s motherhood.” social love, as a reflection of the Trinity, is what truly unifies the spiritual meaning of the family and its mission to others, for it makes present the kerygma [teachings] in all its communal imperatives. The family lives its spirituality precisely by being at one and the same time a domestic church and a vital cell for transforming the world. Let us reflect and meditate on the following questions in reference to our family:

  1. What are some specific ways in which our family practices hospitality within our home? In what ways

is hospitality challenging for our family, and in what ways does it help our family grow in grace and

happiness?

  1. Have we ever thought of hospitality in terms of welcoming the other as Christ? How might this calling

of Christian hospitality change our practices of hospitality?

  1. What are some ways as a family to grow in hospitality? How might we open our home more to the

poor, lonely, brokenhearted and neglected? Is there someone who has a rough family life that could

use some time around our family for the support and encouragement that love offers?

AMORIS LAETITIA – Радість любові

Папа Франциск оголосив рік роздумів над своїм Апостольським зверненням на тему родини: «Amoris Laetitia», тому Церква, бере до уваги цю ініціативу Святішого Отця, яка має на меті охопити та реалізуватись у кожній парафії, єпархії та сім’ї. Сім’я, як домашня Церква, заслуговує на рік святкувань, щоб її можна було поставити в центр душпастирської опіки.

Метою цього особливого року сім’ї є роздуми та ділення змістом цього Апостольського звернення; проголошування про те, що Таїнство Подружжя є даром; створення можливостей для сімей утверджуватися у місії євангелізації; інформування молоді про важливість виховання в правді,  любові та в даруванні себе; розширити бачення та сферу застосування сімейного апостольства.

Щомісяця ми пропонуватимемо роздуми з фрагменту звернення Папи Франциска, щоб допомогти нашим сім’ям рости та святкувати протягом цього надзвичайного року.

Цього місяця ми розмірковуємо про Гостинність:

У Святому Письмі часто говориться про важливість гостинності у родині, тому що її життєдайна любов плекає втомлені душі і зцілює розбиті серця.

Ведена духом родина не тільки відкрита до життя, коли народжує нове життя, але й тоді, коли розвиваючись і поширюючи життя, дбає та піклується про інших, шукаючи їхнього щастя. Ця відкритість знаходить особливе вираження в гостинності, до якої Боже Слово красномовно заохочує: «гостинності не забувайте бо нею деякі не відаючи ангелів гостили» (Євр 13: 2). Коли сім’я вітає інших людей, особливо бідних та знедолених, вона є «символом, свідком та учасником материнства Церкви». Соціальна любов, як відображення Трійці, є тим, що справді об’єднує духовний сенс сім’ї та її місію для інших, оскільки вона представляє вчення у всіх її спільних імперативах. Сім’я живе своєю духовністю саме тим, що є одночасно домашньою церквою і життєво важливою клітиною, яка змінює світ. Розміркуємо над такими питаннями стосовно нашої родини:

  1. Якими конкретними способами наша сім’я практикує гостинність у нашому домі? Чи гостинність є складною справою для нашої родини, і якими способами вона допомагає нашій сім’ї зростати в благодаті та

щасті?

  1. Чи ми інколи думали про гостинність з точки зору прийняття іншого як Христа? Як цей заклик до християнської гостинності може змінити нашу практику гостинності?
  2. Якими способами практикувати гостинність у родині? Як ми можемо відкрити наш дім більше для бідних, самотніх, розбитих серцем і знехтуваних? Чи є хтось, хто маючи труднощі в своєму сімейному житті, може знайти підтримку у колі нашої родини?
