The Eparchy of St. Josaphat in Parma, Ohio, marks a historic milestone today as it commemorates the 40th anniversary of the enthronement of its first bishop, the late Most Rev. Robert M. Moskal. Bishop Moskal, who passed away in August of 2022, was a leader who established the eparchy as a vibrant and faithful community of Ukrainian Catholics in the United States.

The eparchy also honors the memory and ministry of its second bishop, the Most Rev. John Bura, who retired in 2014 after serving for 5 years as an Apostolic Administrator. Bishop Bura, who died in 2023, was a humble and dedicated shepherd who continued the legacy of Bishop Moskal and fostered the spiritual growth and pastoral care of the eparchy. He also served as an auxiliary bishop of the Archeparchy of Philadelphia.

We express our gratitude to all the clergy and faithful who have contributed to building this local church over the past four decades. They have witnessed to the richness and beauty of the Ukrainian Catholic tradition and have shared their gifts and talents in various ministries and services in the Vineyard of the Lord. The eparchy prays that God will reward them with his blessings and grace, and that he will grant eternal rest to Bishop Moskal and Bishop Bura.

Многая Літа! God’s blessings to all!
