Dear Reverend Father,
Glory to Jesus Christ!
As you know, the global community is currently on a heightened alert due to the outbreak of a coronavirus known as COVID-19. Considering that we likewise find ourselves in the midst of the flu season, it behooves me to provide all parishes in our eparchy with certain hygienic guidelines to minimize the risk of contracting a respiratory viral or bacterial disease. Please publish these guidelines in your parish bulletin and announce them from the pulpit. These guidelines remain in effect until the situation with the coronavirus and/or the flu season succumb:
- If you feel sick, please, do not come to church on Sundays, holy days of obligation, or other days. Sick people are not morally obliged to be in church on Sundays and holy days of obligation; you could instead watch or listen to a Liturgy (or even a Roman Catholic Mass, if no other option available) through one of the modern means of the social media, including radio.
- Please avoid handshakes and hugs with your fellow parishioners in church.
- When you are venerating icons, or cross on the tetrapod please clean it thoroughly afterwards.
- If you need to sneeze or cough in church, including when you are in the confessional, please use a handkerchief or other appropriate method that would not put your pastor or fellow parishioners at risk.
- When receiving Holy Communion in church, please, open your mouth as widely as possible and do not touch the spoon with your lips.
Thank you for your cooperation in this very important matter and if you or any members of your parish community(-ies) are currently ill, please, be assured of my prayers for a quick recovery. Let us pray for those who are affected with corona virus and remember that Christ our Savior is the Healer of soul and body.

Засоби Гігієни у церквах, щоб зменшити ризики поширення коронавірусу:
Всечесні Отці,
Cлава Ісусу Христу!
Як вам відомо, глобальна спільнота переживає тривогу через спалах коронавірусу COVID-19. Закликаю пригадати усім парафіям нашої Епархії застосовувати певні засоби гігієни, щоб зменшити ризик поширення вірусу. Прошу опублікувати ці напрямні у ваших парафіяльних бюлетнях та оголосити їх у церквах. Ці правила є актуальними у період спалаху вірусу.
- 1. Якщо ви хворі, просимо залишатися вдома у неділю, свято чи іншого дня. Хворі особи не зобов’язані відвідувати храм, але залишаючись вдома, молитися та брати участь у богослуженнях та молитвах, які транслюються через сучасні засоби комунікації: телебачення, радіо, інтернет.
- 2. Прошу уникати рукостискань та обіймів з іншими парафіянами.
- 3. Цілуючи ікони та хрест на тетраподі, прошу акуратно витирати їх.
- 4. Під час кашлю у церкві, старатися прикривати рот серветкою, намагаючись бути максимально обережними, не наражаючи на небезпеку інших парафіян та священиків.
- 5. Приймаючи Святе Причастя, відкривати широко уста, не торкаючись ними ложечки.
Дякуємо за співпрацю! Запевняю вас усіх у своїх молитвах, зокрема, закликаю до молитви за усіх хворих та тих, хто, страждає від цієї недуги чи будь-якої іншої хвороби. Нехай Христос Спаситель зцілить наші душі і тіла!
