On Monday, April 19, 2021 Deacon Matthew Hanes, Father Joseph Matlak and Bishop Danylo met with Most Reverend Peter Jugis, of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Charlotte, NC.

During the meeting they discussed pastoral situation of the Ukrainian Catholic communities in greater Charlotte area.  There is a movement of the Ukrainian Catholics in the US with a number of American born and Ukrainian immigrants moving to Charlotte greater area.  Currently there are two parishes: St. Basil the Great that meets at St. Thomas Aquinas parish and St. John the Baptist Mission Parish that meets at Charlotte Catholic High School.  St. Josaphat Eparchy is planning to build a church that can serve as a liturgical space for both communities.
